I'm Matt! I am a photographer and wildlife biologist newly local to the Flagstaff area. I have been a photographer for over a decade, mostly focusing on wildlife and landscape photography. But I have come to love taking portraits of people and pets, and photographing special events! I first became interested in photographing people when a close friend asked if I could photograph his surprise proposal to his now-wife. I was so grateful to capture such a special moment and I realized how important it is to capture unforgettable moments and experiences in photographs.
I have been a photographer since the dawn of digital cameras. I've moved on from taking photos of my pets and backyard with my 3-megapixel Casio camera to shooting the milky way and endangered birds with my Canon R7 mirrorless camera. I am passionate about taking photos of a variety of subjects in the outdoors, from a diversity of landscapes to conservation issues. My extensive knowledge in biology and the natural world helps me connect my subjects with photography.
I am currently a Senior Biologist for Logan Simpson Design in Flagstaff, an interdisciplinary consulting firm. I enjoy photographing wildlife and landscapes in my spare time and am focused on connecting with folks and organizations in the Flagstaff area.

I grew up camping with family in coastal redwoods of western Marin County, California, connecting with the natural world through vociferous Steller's jays and embracing old growth redwood trees. My love for the outdoors and preserving the environment and its inhabitants propagated in high school in a unique wildlife class and associated conservation internship program called United Anglers of Casa Grande High School.
I continued my education in wildlife conservation at Cal Poly Humboldt and then pursued a Master's degree in wildlife biology. For almost a decade, I worked for the National Park Service at Point Reyes National Seashore in central California, managing the western snowy plover conservation program and contributing to northern elephant seal, tule elk, and northern spotted owl programs.
